WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho ended in a No Contest (PHOTOS | WATCH | EXCLUSIVE: Medics assist Jericho)
This was to be Chris Jericho’s moment, the match that would render all of his recent misfortunes obsolete. If Jericho could manage to defeat WWE Champion Randy Orton, he would indeed resurrect his standing in WWE. Alas, not only would victory escape him, medics would be required to tend to his unconscious body.

Although Jericho poured every ounce of cunning and energy into the squared circle, even an attack on Orton by Sheamus and his attempted use of a steel chair against The Viper would prove useless. Orton appeared to be at the height of his powers, damaging the Irishman and dodging the metal weapon to level Jericho with an RKO.

With his Hell in a Cell opponent, Sheamus, observing at ringside, WWE’s Apex Predator seemed to relish his next move. His opponent hobbled, Orton charged, swung back his leg and punted Jericho squarely in the skull. The kick transformed the ever-conceited Canadian into an oozing pile of flesh, who left the ring on a stretcher. The ruthless kick also undoubtedly left a strong impression on The Celtic Warrior with less than a week until he and The Viper square off in Hell.

WWE house show results - Madison Square Garden

Kelly Kelly and Melina defeated WWE Divas champ Michelle McCool & Layla El. Melina and McCool opened. Kelly Kelly tagged in with a top rope sunset flip then began beating McCool's head into the mat. She knocked Layla off the apron but was kicked in the face by McCool. LayCool began using nefarious means to control the bout. Layla controlled Kelly with head scissors. McCool tagged in and drilled Melina to prevent a tag. LayCool continued working over Kelly. Melina made the hot tag and cleaned house on Layla. Melina went to slingshot into the ring but was pulled off and slammed facefirst into the apron by McCool. Kelly went to help but was clotheslined. Hornswoggle hit the scene and chased McCool around the ring but Layla attacked him. They tossed him in the ring but he Hulked Up, shaking the ropes like Ultimate Warrior. Before anything could happen, the babyfaces hit the ring and double clotheslined the heels and scored the pin. Layla got in Hornswoggle's face pointing so he bit her hand then her behind. McCool got in his face so he stomped her foot and hit a stunner. Big pop. Horny celebrated with the babyfaces and they all left. Match was solid.

Melina won at 6:44, as Layla shoved Kelly, who would not complete three count for Layla. The distraction led to Melina winning with split legged pin thing.

WWE Hell in a Cell 2010 preview

Live on pay-per-view, WWE Champion Randy Ortonand Sheamus will finally meet in a no disqualification scenario – inside the demonic structure known as Hell in a Cell. With the steel walls of the Devil’s Playground surrounding them, only one man will stand victorious as the WWE Champion at Hell in a Cell, but perhaps neither will ever be the same.

This encounter – the third and tie-breaking pay-per-view bout – will settle a lingering score between both Superstars, who each hold a disqualification victory over the other in singles matches for the WWE Title.

One night after Randy Orton outlasted five other competitors, including then-champion Sheamus, to win the WWE Title at Night of Champions, Raw’s anonymous General Manager announced that The Celtic Warrior and The Viper would square off inside Hell in a Cell. Well aware of their history in one-on-one competition, both Superstars relished in the fact that they would meet in such a setting.

There is, however, one clear advantage that the WWE Champion has over his opponent: Sheamus has never competed inside the Hell in a Cell while Orton has stepped inside the vile entrapment on two occasions. The Viper’s first Hell in a Cell appearance came earlier in his career against the very man who originated the match, The Undertaker. WWE’s Apex Predator’s second match inside the demon’s den resulted in victory overJohn Cena for the WWE Championship at the inaugural Hell in a Cell event one year ago.

Even with Orton’s experience inside the steel structure, Sheamus remains confident, citing his claim of endingTriple H’s career with his bare hands, and bragging of his intent to do the same to The Viper. The fighting Irishman, himself, boasts an impressive track record when it comes to specialty matches and the WWE Championship. The Celtic Warrior won his first title by defeating John Cena in a Tables Match, and then achieved his second reign months ago in a high stakes Fatal 4-Way Match that included Orton.

With no disqualifications, no luck of the Irish and no way to slither out of this match, Sheamus and WWE Champion Randy Orton will finally have to battle to the brutal end inside Hell in a Cell.

The Irishman has risen to the top faster than any other WWE Superstar in recent history, but he is one RKO away from losing all of his momentum. Who will emerge from this Hell in a Cell Match with Raw’s top prize slung over the shoulder?

Tune in Sunday, Oct. 3 at 8/5 CT live on pay-per-view, or see it up close and personal in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. Tickets are still available

WWE Champion Randy Orton vs. Sheamus at Hell in a Cell arranged by Raw GM (PHOTOS)
One man’s triumph is often another man’s tragedy. That adage certainly proved true at the conclusion of Night of Champions less than 24 hours earlier when Randy Orton and then-WWE Champion Sheamus found themselves the last two competitors remaining in the Six Pack Elimination Challenge. In the end, though, The Viper’s skill and athleticism would overcome the pound and fury of the Irishman, who he leveled with an RKO to capture the WWE Title.
With only a day to digest his victory, new WWE Champion Orton entered the Conseco Fieldhouse brandishing the title to the roar of the WWE Universe. The spectacle proved too agonizing for Sheamus, who interrupted the celebration to complain and point out that he’d never lost the title in a singles match. His bellyaching caught the attention of the Raw General Manager, who chimed in to inform the two that they will compete for the WWE Title inside Satan’s Structure at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view in two weeks. And this time, there will be no disqualifications, no count-outs, no escapes and, most pointedly of all, no excuses.
After the match was announced, Sheamus insisted Orton hand over the WWE Title. Careful what you wish for. The Viper tossed the championship into the Irishman’s hands and then leveled him with an RKO. But as Orton set up to punt Sheamus’ skull, The Celtic Warrior quickly scuttled out of the ring.

WWE Champion Randy Orton to face Chris Jericho next week (JERICHO'S NEW DVD SET)
His losing streak persisting, Chris Jericho is lashing out. After threatening to reveal the identity of the anonymous Raw General Manager, Jericho was confronted by new WWE Champion Randy Orton. The Viper challenged Jericho to a match the following week, stating that if he wins, he’s confident he won’t have to see Jericho’s face again “for a long, long time.” Jericho agreed to the match, claiming he’s made a career out of “embarrassing people who underestimate me.”

WWE Night of Champions 2010 coverage [September 19,2010]

CHICAGO – Like a snake lingering in high grass, Randy Orton waited, biding his time, until, finally, the moment arrived. He plunged his ever-dangerous fangs deep into the hearts of his opponents and, once again, coiled himself around the WWE Championship.
In the Six Pack Elimination Challenge at Night of Champions, The Viper used those fangs to slither past five of WWE’s most impressive Superstars – Sheamus,John CenaEdgeChris Jericho and Wade Barrett – en route to the coveted WWE Championship. (PHOTOS |THE VIPER'S LEGACY)
Orton’s path to the title was hardly without obstacle. According to the rules of the Six Pack Elimination Challenge, a sextet of Superstars swarm the ring, with eliminations decided via pinfall or submission. The winner remains the last competitor standing.
During the contest, Chris Jericho was quickly eliminated by Orton with Edge following him out a while later thanks to an Attitude Adjustment from Cena. With the elimination of two Superstars, only Sheamus, Cena, Barrett and Orton remained.
Since the contest stipulations include no disqualifications, The Nexus, not surprisingly, took full advantage. With their leader struggling to oust fellow competitors, the armbanded cavalry – Justin Gabriel,David OtungaHeath Slater and Michael Tarver – disrupted the proceedings, distracting the oft-targeted Cena. The distraction allowed Barrett to hit the Wasteland on Cena and pin him just before the English overlord himself fell victim to an RKO from Orton and was eliminated.
And then there were two. WWE’s Apex Predator and The Celtic Warrior have a sordid history with one another. Last month at SummerSlam, Sheamus retained his title over Orton, but only after losing via disqualification. In the Six Pack Elimination Challenge, however, there would be no stipulation in which to seek sanctuary. Instead, The Viper would leverage the momentum and intimidation he has amassed the past several weeks. With in his eyes narrowed and cunning, Orton struck, devastating Sheamus with a victory clinching RKO.
And with that, The Viper coiled around the WWE Championship for the sixth time in his career, solidifying his legacy in the same arena where he had secured his very first WWE Title, and ensuring that a host of Superstars will be just itching to skin him.

CHICAGO – Michelle McCool made Divas history at Night of Champions, defeating Melina to unify the Divas and Women’s Championships. Becoming the first Unified Divas Champion was an achievement Michelle accomplished with the help of her loyal best friend,LaylaMatch photos
With every Diva participating at ringside as a lumberjill for this historic match, Michelle was forced to fight Melina on her own at first. Layla initially refused to assist her best friend after Michelle tricked her two nights earlier on SmackDown. But Friday night’s rift was all a ruse. Layla stepped in to help Michelle when she needed it most, allowing Michelle to pin Melina for the victory. Now, Lay-Cool – the Divas’ division true queens of mean – reign supreme with the Unified Divas Championship.
Before Night of Champions, Michelle held the Women’s Title twice and was the first-ever Divas Champion, holding that title once. She’s the first-ever Diva to claim both. The Women’s Championship is WWE’s oldest, as it was established in 1956 and first held by The Fabulous Moolah for 28 years. The Women’s Title was instated seven years before the WWE Title was formed. Michelle made WWE Divas history by unifying the titles, becoming the first-ever Unified Divas Champion at Night of Champions.
More than a month earlier, Melina made a triumphant return at SummerSlam to claim the Divas Title. But Lay-Cool tormented Melina from the start, challenging her to a Unification Match at Night of Champions. Melina accepted, but under her terms – that all of the Divas act as lumberjills at ringside – making the fight as fair as possible. But the lumberjills weren’t enough for the Latina Lovely to trump the “mean girls.”
Melina’s opponent was determined just two days before Night of Champions by the “flawless” plan of pulling a name out of a hat. The first draw by Kaval – Michelle – earned the right to fight at Night of Champions. Michelle promised to win for herself and her devoted friend. But Layla and the WWE NXT season two winner soon discovered all of the names in that hat read “Michelle.” A shocked Layla vowed that her bestie would stand alone at Night of Champions – a promise that was all a clever ruse.
Thanks to the ever-loyal Layla’s help, Michelle has unified the Divas and Women’s Championship to become to the Unified Divas Champion. Lay-Cool has opened a new chapter in WWE Divas history with a moment that will never be forgotten. Now that’s “real talk.”

After Michelle threw Rosa off her game with a kick to the back, Layla hit the neckbreaker, paving the way for a “flawless” triumph just two days before Night of Champions.
Later, in order to determine which member of Team Lay-Cool would face Divas Champion Melina in a Lumberjill Unification Match at this Sunday’s pay-per-view, Michelle proposed to Layla that Kaval pick a name out of a hat (Watch). After Michelle won the right to face Melina, Kaval discovered that Michelle’s name was on every piece of paper in the hat. This infuriated the English-born Diva, who said that Michelle would “stand alone” this Sunday. (Match preview)

John Cena to face Randy Orton in a Tables Match in the night’s main event
Who’s feeling lucky? John Cena and Randy Orton watched as the Raw Roulette Wheel spun to decide the type of match they must compete in. The Viper seemed pleased when the wheel stopped on a Tables Match. Orton’s demeanor may have had everything to do with the fact that the last time Cena competed in a Tables Match, he dropped the WWE Championship to Sheamus. As Cena reminded announcer Josh Mathews, however, that happened right around the time the “Legendary” star last faced and defeated Orton.

Randy Orton def. John Cena in a Tables Match (PHOTOS | WATCH)

John Cena and Randy Orton hadn’t faced one another in singles competition since December of 2009. That lapse in no way diminished the animosity that has always simmered just below the surface. During their Tables Match in the night’s main event, those callous feelings could no longer be contained.

As the battle progressed, various Superstars would power through more lumber than a Home Depot. In the end, Barrett (and his Nexus cohorts), Edge and Jericho, and The Celtic Warrior would all invade the ring.

Barrett and The Nexus attempted to upend both Cena and Orton, but together the two would dispose of the five members, mostly by sending them through tables.

Next up, The Ultimate Opportunist and the ever-conceited Canadian attempted to disrupt the proceedings. Instead, The Viper sent the two of them headlong into the same piece of splintering lumber.

Meanwhile, outside the ring, Cena seized the WWE Champion, heaved him atop his granite shoulders and sent him hurtling onto the cold, hard arena floor with an Attitude Adjustment.

Randy Orton confronted The Nexus; Raw GM arranged main events (PHOTOS)

Modest. Humble. Self-effacing. Three characteristics foreign to the arrogant Superstars of The Nexus. The five outlaws kicked off Raw by recapping last week’s episode, in which they ganged up on The Undertakerand punished The Phenom, and also prevailed in a 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match after both Chris Jericho and Edge abandoned their squad.

When the five members took turns bragging, Randy Orton interrupted the self-righteous revelry. Just when the rhetoric between Wade Barrett and The Viper became overheated, Raw’s anonymous General Manager broke in to inform Nexus that while their collective effort may have been impressive, they would be put to the test as individuals tonight. First up, The Nexus’ leader Wade Barrett would face Orton, the man he pinned last week to win the main event match. Next, Justin Gabriel would battle the man he pinned the week before, John Cena. And neither Nexus member would enjoy the assistance of their fellow outlaws since The Nexus is banned from ringside during both bouts.

John Cena will face winner of Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett match
Raw’s anonymous General Manager chimed in to inform the WWE Universe that the winner of the match pitting Randy Orton against Wade Barrett will be “rewarded” with a match against John Cena on next week’s Raw. Adding to the excitement of next week’s show, Raw Roulette returns! The high-stakes wheel promises to provide a series of unexpected and must-watch matches.

Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett (PHOTOS | WATCH)

Randy Orton seemed a man possessed. In the night’s main event match, The Viper faced off against Wade Barrett as WWE Champion Sheamus, Edge and John Cena looked on from ringside. And although the opponents appeared evenly matched, Orton slithered past his foe when the leader of The Nexus was haunted by a face from his past: Darren Young.

The banished Nexus member distracted Barrett long enough to allow The Viper to level him with an RKO and prevail in the match. Orton, however, was hardly content with a singular strike. He subsequently coiled around Young, Edge and Sheamus, leaving each incapacitated by an RKO.

Although Cena entered the ring as well, the two appeared justifiably cautious in the presence of one another, content to stare each other down until next week when they will happily settle any scores.
