WWE Royal Rumble 2012 results [January 29,2012]

ST. LOUIS — WWE fans are going to see a fight at this year’s WrestleMania.
Using his brute strength to triumph over 29 other Superstars, the mighty Sheamus was victorious in the Royal Rumble Match, dumping Chris Jericho to earn a World Title opportunity against a champion of his choosing at WrestleMania XXVII on April 1. (PHOTOS)
It was a grueling battle for the powerhouse who drew No. 22. Entering before a sold-out crowd that had already witnessed Ricardo Rodriguez rolling to the ring in an ’85 Datsun, Kofi Kingston walking on his hands to avoid elimination and Michael Cole jumping over the top rope to escape the wrath of Kharma, The Celtic Warrior immediately made his presence felt by launching Kingston out of the ring.
From there, the Rumble became a demolition derby of battered bodies and unpredictable arrivals. Booker T, Jerry “The King” Lawler and Michael Cole all left the broadcast booth at one point to try their luck in the bout, but were quickly sent back to their announce table with damaged egos. Old school fan favorites like Mick Foley, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Road Dogg returned to rousing ovations — only to be chucked from the squared circle by dangerous upstarts like Cody Rhodes, Dolph Ziggler and Wade Barrett. Big Show, twice a runner-up in the Rumble, made a huge impact from the 30 spot, tossing Jack Swagger, Rhodes, The Miz and Ziggler in rapid succession.
When the Royal Rumble Match came down to the all-important final four, it was Big Show, Sheamus, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton left standing in the ring. Quickly, though, the 30-man melee was left to two men as The Viper heaved The World’s Largest Athlete only to be immediately eliminated by Jericho.
WWE fans, knowing they would see a first time Royal Rumble Match winner tonight, began to shake the Scottrade Center as Y2J and The Great White waged a dramatic battle for supremacy. When Jericho sent Sheamus over the top rope, the big man hung on and came right back. When The Celtic Warrior dismissed his opponent, Jericho would find a way to return.
The back-and-forth brawl pushed both men to their physical limit before the nefarious Superstar made the mistake of going for his patened Codebreaker. Snatching Jericho in midair, Sheamus deposited the man who promised “the end of the world” over the top rope and then blasted him with The Brogue Kick to make sure he was gone for good.
It was an important victory for the SmackDown Superstar. A year ago, The Celtic Warrior’s WrestleMania XXVI bout against Daniel Bryan was bumped from the card at the last minute. This year, he’ll be competing for a World Title. Don’t expect The Great White to let this opportunity slip through his fingers.

ST. LOUIS – Even when aligned with a trio of devious Divas like The Bella Twins and Natalya, WWEDivas Champion Beth Phoenix ultimately has no friends or enemies – only challengers. And before a capacity crowd at Scottrade Center in St. Louis, The Glamazon didn’t need much help to crush the challenge from the alliance of Kelly Kelly, Eve, Alicia Fox and Tamina during the Eight-Diva Tag Team Match at the 25th anniversary of the Royal Rumble. (PHOTOS)
Phoenix imposed her will on the match’s outcome after sensing a momentum shift from Kelly Kelly’s high-flying tactics which leveled all of the Divas at ringside simultaneously. The Glamazon took control of the action by ordering her own teammate to get out of the ring and then tagging herself in before nailing Kelly Kelly with a Glam Slam moments later to seal the victory.
While Phoenix put the exclamation point on the win for her side, it wasn’t entirely for lack of effort on her fellow Divas’ part. Until Phoenix reversed her fortunes, Eve put on a strong performance and managed to keep her focus on her opponents rather than the looming presence of Kane within the arena. The Bella Twins also kept their chances alive by mustering some Twin Magic to halt an assault by Alicia.
The result puts Natalya and The Bella Twins alongside Phoenix in the win column, but it doesn’t put anyone closer to contending against the reigning Divas Champion. Phoenix proved that The Road to WrestleMania will be a long one for any Divas hoping to challenge The Glamazon for championship gold.

Bring it Back: Women's Tag Team Titles

Twice the beauty, twice the fun beckons for twice the championship run. WWE.com calls for the return of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.
In more than any other type of match WWE has to offer, the Divas have showcased their tremendous abilities in tag team action – an arena in which they have excelled time and time again. It stands to reason that since they are taking such an active role in this particular level of competition, there should be championship gold in place for which to compete.
Moreover, today’s Diva duos have a greater opportunity to take that title to unprecedented new heights. It’s true that WWE Hall of Famers like The Fabulous Moolah, Wendi Richer and Sensational Sherri helped defined the ’80s – the era when the Women's Tag Team Title was last active – and set the stage for the current crop of in-ring femme fatales.
Yet despite the incredible ability and influence of these past elites among the singles ranks, they never had a strong enough group of female competitors at their side that would allow the Women’s Tag Team Titles to build a true legacy.
This roadblock to greatness certainly does not exist today – an era in which numerous Diva pairings have proven to be just as effective as their male counterparts where tandem excellence is concerned.
Without question, Beth Phoenix & Natalya have exhibited a spirit of dominance similar to that of Demolition, The Bella Twins the tag team savvy of the Hart Foundation and Kelly Kelly & Eve the explosive charisma of current WWE Tag Team Champions "Air Boom."
By throwing such a grand prize like the Women's Tag Team Titles back into play, WWE would add a crucial dimension to today’s Divas picture, raising the stakes on their matches overall while adding to their stunning nature that has captivated the WWE Universe over the years.
WWE, the time has come to bring back the Women’s Tag Team Championship.

WWE debuts new set for live events

WWE has created a new entrance set for non-televised live events that captures the feel of WWE’s outstanding television productions of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown.
Measuring 20 feet high and 40 feet wide, the spectacular new set weighs more than a ton and fills an entire tractor trailer from back to front and top to bottom. It is comprised of thousands of LEDs (light-emitting diodes) and requires more than four hours of set-up time before each live event. To fully deliver an experience similar to that seen every week on WWE’s television productions, the three sets (Raw, SmackDown and one backup) were an investment of more than 1.5 million dollars.

The new set was introduced at both the Raw and SmackDown live events between Christmas and New Year’s Day. WWE.com was on hand in WWE’s home state capital of Hartford, Conn. for the final Raw live event of 2011, where the new set garnered reactions to from our Superstars, Divas and most importantly, you … our fans.

Maryse mentions Kelly Kelly

HTR: Okay, well one more thing before you get out of here. If you would, we’re going to play a little word association. You know I’ll say something and you give the first thing that pops in your head.
Maryse: Okay, let’s go.
…..
HTR: Kelly Kelly
Maryse: Blonde
HTR: Move on Shane, we will not talk about Kelly Kelly the whole time.
Maryse: No you know it’s funny because me and Kelly would always joke around to see who has the better blonde hair, we would always be like no it’s me, no it’s me, no it’s me. We would always joke around a lot about that. It was very funny.
….
HTR: I’m a little disappointed Maryse, my girl Kelly Kelly as not on your list. Whats up with that? (Maryse listed her favorite Divas to work with)
Maryse: Oh, well you wanted my favorite and I gave it to you.
HTR: Okay, alright. I’m going to step back. Or the black belt will come out.
Maryse: Well Kelly Kelly you got to give it to her, I was really happy for her when she won the Divas Championship and she has been working for the company for six or seven years and she deserves it, she’s happy and that’s what matters.

Sheamus felt the dual wrath of Jinder Mahal & Wade Barrett (WATCH | PHOTOS)
One week after leaving Randy Orton injured at the bottom of an arena staircase, Wade Barrett came before the WWE Universe to declare The Viper "finished" – the latest victim of The Barrett Barrage. But, when he insisted that he would triumph in the Royal Rumble Match, Sheamus emerged to dispute his claim, insulting the English Superstar in the process.
Just as things were heating up with the two intense Superstars, Jinder Mahal interrupted their stare down, slapping The Celtic Warrior. Mahal and Barrett proceeded to launch a vicious double assault on The Great White. Though Sheamus fought back with pure Irish tenacity, he could not overcome the odds – ultimately suffering the Winds of Change by Barrett and the “Punjabi Clutch” by Jinder.

I want to wish you all a Happy New Year!Keep yourselves safe!Let us look forward to an awesome year ahead.

Randy Orton Could Still Feature At WWE Royal Rumble?

Depending on how quickly Randy Orton can recover from his injury (worst case scenario seems to be six months out, best case six to ten weeks), WWE may still have him feature in January’s Royal Rumble pay-per-view match as a surprise late entry. The Rumble is taking place in Orton’s hometown of St. Louis, Missouri and the original plan discussed was to have him win the event and take on the SmackDown World Heavyweight Champion (whether that be Daniel Bryan, Mark Henry, Big Show or whomever else) at WrestleMania 28 from April 1st.

WWE are right now looking at different ideas on how to handle Orton’s injury creatively. If they can get him to cameo at the end of the Rumble and perhaps win the event and find a way of keeping him out of the ring building towards WrestleMania 28, and maybe have him work a little in a tag match to ease the pressure off of him at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view in February then that is one plausible route.

Wade Barrett battled Randy Orton in a Falls Count Anywhere Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Wade Barrett and Randy Orton continued their intense rivalry in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere Match. After waging war inside the ring, the action spilled outside, where The Viper tossed Barrett over the announce table. As Orton continued to pummel Barrett, he was shoved directly into the WWE ref, knocking him out cold. Next, the two continued to fight it out among the WWE Universe.
The vicious battle then carried over into the locker room area of the Conseco Fieldhouse, where there was no WWE official present. The battle even waged on inside an elevator! But when their fight took them to the top of a staircase, it was Orton who ended up at the bottom. At first Barrett started down the stairs to approach Orton, but then backed away and exited through an arena door as The Viper laid motionless on the stair landing. When will WWE’s Apex Predator return to action? (MORE ON ORTON’S CONDITION)
