Injury update on Randy Orton as of December 30,2011

INDIANAPOLIS – WWE Superstar Randy Orton suffered an injury at SmackDown in Indianapolis that could keep him sidelined for a few weeks, and will prevent him from competing at upcoming WWE live events.

The injury occurred during a brutal Falls Count Anywhere Match with Wade Barrett. As their brawl spilled over outside the ring, the referee was knocked out when Orton shoved Barrett into him. Next, the cut-throat brawl continued within the Conseco Fieldhouse, where The Viper ended up at the bottom of a set of stairs. With WWE’s Apex Predator down, Barrett approached, but then decided to leave through an arena door (FULL SMACKDOWN RESULTS | WATCH | PHOTOS).

Although the full extent of The Viper’s injury remains to be seen, WWE physician Dr. Michael Sampson examined Orton and updated WWE.com about his condition.

“Randy suffered a herniated disc on the L4-L5 level on the left side, and that’s resulting in pain and weakness down his leg.” Dr. Sampson explained. “He’s going to need some time off for rehab, anti-inflammatory medications and physical therapy.”

Sheamus is scheduled to replace The Viper in Street Fights against Wade Barrett at WWE live events this week.

Top 25 Matches of 2011

# 21: Randy Orton vs. Cody Rhodes from SmackDown

The November 4th Street Fight between Randy Orton and Cody Rhodes will go down as one the most brutal beat downs of the year. Reigniting a rivalry that began when their Legacy faction fell apart, The Viper and his former protégé tortured one another throughout the ringside area. It was a test of will for Rhodes, who spilled serious amounts of plasma after getting blasted in the head with the sharp edge of a monitor, but Cody could not beat the man who taught him every dirty trick in the book. In the end, Orton won with two RKOs before slipping a paper bag onto the ravaged face of his former ally.

# 18: Randy Orton vs. CM Punk from Extreme Rules

Before delivering an uncensored interview that would change the course of his WWE career, CM Punk was desperately trying to piece together a frayed Nexus that had unraveled under Wade Barrett. Looking to reestablish his crew’s reputation at the expense of Randy Orton, The Second City Savior entered Extreme Rules in May to face The Viper in a Last Man Standing Match. Of course, the slimy leader planned for New Nexus to do the dirty work for him, but that plot fell apart when Mason Ryan and company were barred from ringside, leaving Punk all alone with WWE’s Apex Predator. Amidst a barrage of kendo sticks, chairs, exposed turnbuckles and steel steps, Orton reigned supreme, executing a jaw dropping RKO on The Straight Edge Superstar from the top rope that put him out for the count.

# 16: World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. U.S. Champion Dolph Ziggler from Raw

It was a blast for the WWE Universe when the World Heavyweight Champion and United States Champion met on one of the first Raw SuperShows under COO Triple H. Despite the lack of bad blood between the competitors — and with Orton nearing a title bout against Christian — The Viper and the self-styled showoff clashed like their careers were on the line. Ziggler put up a championship-worthy fight, stopping Orton in his tracks with a superkick as WWE's Apex Predator ran in for a punt, delivering a Zig-Zag outside the ring and nearly sealing the contest by reversing the RKO into a sleeper hold. In the end, though, it wasn’t enough, as Orton tossed his opponent into the air and administered the RKO to seal Ziggler’s fate.

# 14: Randy Orton vs Wade Barrett from WWE TLC

In the midst of a career resurgence he dubbed the “Barrett Barrage,” the thuggish Wade Barrett had either the guts or foolishness to target the biggest dog on SmackDown — Randy Orton. Trashing Baltimore’s 1st Mariner Arena against The Viper in a Tables Match, the British Superstar nearly lost an eye when WWE’s Apex Predator sent a jagged edge of wood into his brow. Foggy from there, Barrett attempted to put Orton through a table by diving off the top rope and ended up getting RKO’d right through the pine by his venomous rival. It was a fighting effort from Barrett, but a brutal reminder of the fact that if you come at the king, you better not miss.

# 07: The 40-Man Royal Rumble Match

A WWE tradition since 1988, the over-the-top Royal Rumble has long been one of sports-entertainment’s true proving grounds, but it was never as big as it was in 2011. Cramming 40 Superstars into one ring over the course of an hour, this record-setting battle royal played host to the surprising returns of Booker T and Kevin Nash, a strength-in-numbers display from New Nexus and a bizarre partnership between John Cena and Hornswoggle. But, in the end, it was the slimy Alberto Del Rio who survived the grueling bout, dumping Santino Marella to earn a first class ticket to WrestleMania. Some guys have all the luck.

# 04: Raw Elimination Chamber Match

They say there are no atheists in foxholes. Same goes for the Elimination Chamber. Dubbed The Devil’s Playground for good reason, the satanic structure houses six Superstars inside ten tons of twisted metal, jagged steel and bulletproof glass. But, like any great battlefield, the chamber has become a place of glory that serves as a testament to the cunning or power of the Superstar who survives it. For John Cena, it has been such a place on three occasions, including this February 20 war against Sheamus, CM Punk, Randy Orton, John Morrison and R-Truth. Determined to earn a WWE Championship Match at WrestleMania, the Cenation leader persevered before finally eliminating Punk to earn his showdown with The Miz on The Grandest Stage of Them All.

# 03: World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Christian from Over the Limit

When two established Superstars meet with a title on the line, WWE fans can expect fireworks. They would not be disappointed at Over the Limit in May. In a gripping match for the World Heavyweight Championship, Randy Orton and Christian continued their rivalry to dueling cheers of "Let's go Orton/Let's go Christian.” Desperate to get his title back, Captain Charisma came out strong, but WWE’s Apex Predator battled back with a DDT and a powerslam. Finally, The Viper was able to counter Christian’s Killswitch attempt with an RKO, sealing the win and sending his opponent into a downward spiral from which he still hasn’t recovered.

Randy Orton RKO’d Wade Barrett onto the roof of a car (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Wade Barrett took to the ring and offered his view on his encounters with Randy Orton and said Orton “…was one of the greatest in the history of WWE, until he encountered Wade Barrett.” As he finished his address, Barrett declared he should be next to face new World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Hearing enough of Barrett’s lip, The Viper decided to let his actions do the talking by storming in and bringing the fight to Barrett. As the two fought tooth-and-nail, they found themselves within the parking garage of the Richmond Coliseum, where WWE’s Apex Predator brutally RKO’d Barrett onto the roof of a parked car!

WWE RAW results [December 19,2011]

Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett by Disqualification (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Still wearing the scars of his brutal Tables Match with Randy Orton, the villainous Wade Barrett didn't bother trying to have a legitimate match with The Viper — he just wanted to hurt him. And that’s exactly what the British Thug did as he got himself disqualified by driving his thumb into Orton's eye before ruthlessly slamming his opponent through a table. Clearly, this rivalry is far from over.

WWE TLC results [December 18,2011]

Randy Orton def. Wade Barrett (Tables Match)

At least after WWE TLC, Wade Barrett’s only Christmas wish may be a rematch against WWE’s Apex Predator. The “Barrett Barrage” was unable to withstand the sting of The Viper’s venom in a Tables Match as Randy Orton dropped Wade Barrett through the pine with a jaw-dropping mid-air RKO. (PHOTOS)

The Tables Match was the perfect place for these competitors to settle the score and for The Viper to come uncoiled. In an environment that allows underhanded tactics, one of the Superstars could only earn victory in a very specific way, and no matter how fast the flurry of The “Barrett Barrage” came through, he couldn’t put Orton through a table.

One year ago when Orton was WWE Champion, Barrett and The Viper squared-off at WWE Bragging Rights and again at Survivor Series for the title. However, the British grappler may have been more concerned with humiliating John Cena at the time and ultimately underestimated WWE’s Apex Predator. Tonight, inside the 1st Mariner Arena, Wade Barrett’s sole focus was on the third-generation Superstar, but he still couldn’t conquer The Viper.

With an already sordid history between the two competitors, Barrett had built a fair share of momentum. After earning an underhanded victory against Orton on SmackDown, then leading Team Barrett to a triumph over Orton and his squad at Survivor Series, it seemed that momentum was clearly in favor of the “Barrett Barrage.” However, the inside of Orton’s head is a twisted and dangerous place, and it seemed that as Barrett stalked and taunted him over recent weeks, WWE’s Apex Predator simply became more enraged.

Battling in and out of the ring, there were a few moments where the WWE Universe held their breath, waiting for one of the Superstars to crash through a table. But as the action continued, Barrett proved his fighting spirit and toughness, but the unpredictability of Randy Orton proved to be too much. Perhaps it is that same unpredictability that gave WWE’s Apex Predator an edge. Barrett believed he was inside Orton’s head, but with each explosive blow dealt by the nine-time champion, it was clearly not the case.

That impulsive attitude and competitive style of the third-generation Superstar is what led to Barrett’s demise at WWE TLC. At any time and RKO can strike and be devastating, but the bare-knuckled brawler learned it can be much worse when a table is involved. As Barrett dove from the middle-rope, trying to put Orton through the table, The Viper rolled out of the way and caught the British Superstar with a mid-air RKO that split the table in two.

How will The “Barrett Barrage” rebound? Will he still have his sights set on Orton? Find out on SmackDown, this Friday at 8/7 CT only on Syfy.

Divas Champion Beth Phoenix def. Kelly Kelly

BALTIMORE – At a packed and electric 1st Mariner Arena, Divas Champion Beth Phoenix retained her title against a game Kelly Kelly in a rousing match at WWE: Tables, Ladders and Chairs. (PHOTOS)

Fresh off her award for Divalicious Moment of the Year at the 2011 Slammy Awards (WATCH), challenger Kelly Kelly entered the contest with both momentum and the support of the WWE Universe on her side, as the Baltimore crowd cheered loudly for the beautiful Diva.

Evidently not forgetting the smack she received from the former Divas Champion at the Slammys, “pin-up strong” Beth Phoenix mockingly asked for another one from Kelly Kelly. She received it and more as Phoenix found herself on the wrong end of a beat down to start the match.

However, the Divas Champion turned the tides and began imposing her will. The Glamazon battered her opponent with an array of strikes, submission attempts and slams, nearly getting the pinfall multiple times.

Kelly Kelly battled back courageously against the physically intimidating Phoenix, using everything in her arsenal. Plucky in the face of danger, she showed everyone again that she is tough and wily, in addition to being stunningly gorgeous.

In the end though, The Glamazon gained control of the match with sheer power, utilizing a rare inverted electric chair to seal the victory over her Divalicious opponent.

Kelly Kelly may not have won the title, but she made even more fans with her gutsy performance. Phoenix, meanwhile, continued her dominance over the Divas Division and again demonstrated what it means to be pin-up strong.

Randy Orton & Zack Ryder def. Wade Barrett & United States Champion Dolph Ziggler (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Although they are not competing for a championship at WWE TLC, it’s clear that Randy Orton and Wade Barrett are both eager for a victory on the pay-per-view stage. After a back-and-forth tag team battle, it was The Viper who garnered the win for his team by dropping United States Champion Dolph Ziggler with a stinging RKO. As the ref delivered the three-count, Orton locked eyes with Barrett, who slowly backed away from the ring. (WWE TLC TABLES MATCH PREVIEW)

WWE Bring It Back: Evolution

The classy suits, the fast-moving party atmosphere, the unbridled ruthlessness, the past, present and future of the squared circle. What was must be again. WWE.com calls for the return of Evolution.

PHOTOS OF EVOLUTION AND OTHER GREAT FACTIONS FROM WWE HISTORY

It seemed to be a moment of sheer destiny, the natural progression of all that had come before it. During a 2003 episode of Raw, the WWE Universe stood witness as “the past” – 16-time World Champion Ric Flair – joined forces with “the present” – one of the top grapplers in the game Triple H – and “the future” – then up-and-coming Superstars Randy Orton and Batista. Together, they formed Evolution and instantly grew into one of the most dominant WWE factions of all-time.

At the height of Evolution’s success, every member of this multi-generational formidable foursome held a major title. The Game stood at the top of the mountain as World Heavyweight Champion, Orton was the Intercontinental Champion and Batista & Flair were the World Tag Team Champions. However, championship gold was not the only aspect that made them a brand part.

With every step they took, the members of Evolution exuded confidence, truly emulating the life of the group’s legendary mentor “The Nature Boy” by walking, talking and acting a cut above the rest. They were often seen in the company of beautiful women, dressed to the nines in expensive suits and the coolest sunglasses.

On the flip side to their sophistication – however – they also would strive to equal Triple H’s sheer ruthlessness, completely dominating their opposition in a fury of overwhelming force.

Put simply, Evolution was style incarnate and dangerous dominance all at the same time – the divine successor of a slew of infamous factions that included the immortal Four Horsemen, the NWO, The Nation of Domination, The Cooperate Ministry and D-Generation X.

The epic return of Evolution would once again represent the ever-evolving nature of WWE, elevating returning members to new heights while bringing in fresh blood to mold into greatness.

Triple H should definitely return. But, considering the legendary status that The King of Kings has grown to over the years, he could now feasibly assume the Ric Flair role – as the mentor/competitor whose knowledge is as dangerous as his in-ring ability. He is “that damn good.” Randy Orton, who has clearly soared to the lofty heights that Triple H once predicted he would, is now ready to move to the next step and take the reins as the centerpiece of the elite group.

Still, who would assume the role of the two up-and-comers of Re-Evolution? Clearly the ultra-braggadocio Dolph Ziggler has all the tools to fill the shoes of the once cocky young Orton. Despite his recent differences with both Orton and Triple H, the outspoken Cody Rhodes would also be an A-list option.

When considering a Superstar with the power and temperament once harnessed by “Evolution’s Animal,” Sheamus is a sure fire choice. Though The Great White already has the WWE Title on his resume, aligning himself with the likes of The Cerebral Assassin and The Viper would propel him to unprecedented heights. Still, another powerful possibility would be the explosive Mason Ryan, poised to make his earth-shattering mark on WWE.

Evolution is inevitable. Inside the WWE Universe, where it is always survival of the fittest, the time has come for one of the greatest factions of all-time to evolve before a new generation and to add the already electrifying atmosphere being created by the likes of WWE Champion CM Punk, John Cena and World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry. WWE, bring back Evolution.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett (Tables Match)

Viper is defined as any snake belonging to the family Viperidae, characterized by protruding venom-conducting fangs.
Most men would steer clear of such a malevolent creature but Wade Barrett has proven himself to be bolder than most men. Since winning WWE NXT’s inaugural season, Barrett has managed to work his way up WWE’s food chain, first as the leader of The Nexus, then as founder of The Corre and now as the one man “Barrett Barrage.” The former bare-knuckled fighting champion is looking to knock off Randy Orton as WWE’s “Apex Predator.”
In Liverpool, England, on SmackDown, Barrett managed to escape the RKO and used a thumb to Orton’s eye to steal a victory. If that weren’t enough, Team Barrett outlasted Team Orton at Survivor Series when Barrett pinned The Viper with the help of his fellow survivor, Intercontinental Champion, Cody Rhodes. (PHOTOS)
Since then, the British grappler has been stalking Orton and has made it clear that he feels beating the youngest World Heavyweight Champion once and for all will clear his path to holding that same prize.
On the Dec. 9 edition of SmackDown, Randy Orton defeated Dolph Ziggler faster than Wade Barrett, and as a result of that Beat The Clock challenge, won the right to choose the stipulation for their match at TLC. Without a word being spoken, Barrett “suggested” a Tables Match and Orton “agreed” at the expense of Ziggler. (WATCH)
Will it be Orton or Barrett looking over a broken table and possibly also the broken body and spirit of their opponent? We’ll find out on Dec. 18 at TLC.

Randy Orton vs. Wade Barrett ended in a Double Count-out (WATCH | PHOTOS)
Days before they meet in a Tables Match as WWE TLC, WWE’s Apex Predator battled The Barrett Barrage in front of the men and women of the U.S. military. Orton and Barrett held nothing back and seemed poised to settle their score at Fort Bragg. The battle spilled to the outside where both Superstars were counted out. After the match, the brawl continued and as The Viper prepared to put Barrett through a table, David Otunga interfered to save his former Nexus teammate. Orton fought back and ended up putting Otunga through a table, sending a clear message to The Barrett Barrage.

After igniting a war of tweets with The Glamazon last week, Maria Menounos returned to the squared circle to compete in front of America’s bravest. Teaming with Kelly Kelly, Eve and Alicia Fox, the entertainment reporter was more than ready to grapple with The Glamazon, Natalya and The Bellas. Maria had the last laugh and certainly the last tweet by shockingly pinning the Divas Champion to secure the win.

Randy Orton def. United States Champion Dolph Ziggler in a Beat the Clock Challenge Match (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In a grueling Beat a Clock Challenge against Dolph Ziggler, Randy Orton struggled to get back in the ring and best the time of 7:53 – set earlier in the night by Wade Barrett. However, while Vickie Guerrero distracted the referee, his WWE TLC opponent appeared from nowhere, hurling The Viper into the steel ring post. Despite this onslaught, the resilient Orton reengaged Ziggler in time, executing the RKO to overcome his English adversary’s benchmark by two seconds!
Orton’s triumph earned him the right to pick his stipulation for his WWE TLC Match against Barrett. After the main event had concluded, the British brawler made a forceful suggestion as to what the stipulation should be, attempting to put Orton through a table. But, The Viper foiled his plan, hurling Dolph Ziggler through the table instead. (MATCH PREVIEW

Kelly Kelly interview from St.Petersburg times

Kelly Kelly wearing a tacky Christmas sweater covered with lights and sequined Santas anytime soon.

But she will be at Jackson’s Bistro judging the seventh annual ugly sweater contest on Friday.

Kelly Kelly, 24, grew up in Jacksonville but has called Tampa home for the past year and a half. A competitor with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) since 2006, she won her first Divas Championship this year.

Kelly Kelly, whose real name is Barbara “Barbie” Blank, upped her celebrity status this month by landing on the cover of Maxim. She’ll have a meet and greet with VIP guests at Jackson’s Christmas party, which will benefit the Children’s Home.

In an interview with tbt*, she spoke about getting into wrestling and the actual pain involved.

How did you end up on this month’s cover of Maxim?

When I got named on the Maxim Hot 100 list … they called me and said, “We want you to be on the back cover of the Christmas issue.” I was like, “Oh, that’s awesome. I’d love to.” So we’re doing the shoot and I’m like, “Who’s going to be on the cover?” They were very coy about it and said, “We don’t really know yet. We have some people in mind.” A week later, I get a phone call from Maxim and they said, “We were just kidding. You’re on the cover and the back cover.” It was really cool how they surprised me.

How did you get your ring name?

It was my first week and Vince (McMahon) asked me to come up with five names that I like. So I wrote down five names and, honestly, Kelly wasn’t one of them. Later in the day, they said, “Okay, we came up with Kelly.” (laughs) The next week I come to work and look at the script and my name had changed to Kelly Kelly. Vince thought it was cute.

Did you ever think you’d get into wrestling?

I was in my first year of college and wanted to be an anchorwoman for ESPN. I love sports and I had an athletic background. When I got the phone call from my agent who said, “The WWE called me and they are interested in you.” I was like, “Oh, my God,” because I used to watch it when I was younger. I said, “Okay, let’s try it.” They kicked my butt for a week. I was throwing up. I had bruises all over.

Is wrestling really painful?

Your body is not meant to do the things we do. The girls are brutal. We really punch each other and pull hair because we want it to look like we’re beating each other up. I feel like the girls take it to another level. A lot of times those tears on my face are real.

What will you be looking for when judging the ugly sweater contest?

I was looking online and love the ones that have the lights on them. I’m going to be looking for some with lights and some that you wouldn’t expect to see.

Have you ever worn one?

Probably when I was younger. I’m sure my mom put me in a few.

The Miz def. Randy Orton by Count-out (WATCH | PHOTOS)
The Awesome One will be competing for the WWE Title at WWE TLC and he has Wade Barrett to thank for it. In the middle of The Miz’s showdown with The Viper, the aggressive British Superstar entered the fray and distracted Orton on the outside of the ring, which led to WWE’s Apex Predator being counted out. When Orton turned his attention back to Miz, he was attacked from behind by the underhanded Barrett.

Kelly Kelly & Eve def. Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Natalya (PHOTOS)
The “pin-up strong” pair of Divas Champion Beth Phoenix & Natalya have thrived by torturing Kelly Kelly & Eve, but the wicked duo couldn't push around the so-called "Barbie Dolls" tonight. Rolling up her powerful rival out of nowhere, Kelly scored a huge tag victory for her team and sent the arrogant Divas a message that a pretty face should never be underestimated.

Randy Orton def. David Otunga in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight (WATCH | PHOTOS)
In complete control throughout the match, Randy Orton tossed David Otunga into various festive decorations in the arena. After a brutal DDT off the ring apron, it looked like it was game over for Otunga. But there was a glimmer of hope when Wade Barrett ambushed Orton. After downing The Viper, the brash Brit tossed Otunga back in the ring and walked away, thinking he set him up for the win. But WWE’s Apex Predator battled back, finishing off Otunga with an RKO.
