WWE.com article: Who Wore It Better; AJ or Kelly Kelly?

AJ and Kelly Kelly dressed in CM Punk gear

The WWE Universe was buzzing about CM Punk's match against Daniel Bryan on Raw SuperShow, but it wasn't just about the intense action in the ring. Bryan's ex-girlfriend AJ showed her true colors by wearing a cutoff version of Punk's official T-shirt and matching armbands as she cheered on The Straight Edge Superstar from ringside. The Geek Goddess drew a wide range of reactions from our fans on Twitter, both for her fetching ensemble and for coming to the WWE Champion's aid after the match. (VIDEO | PHOTOS: AJ SHOWS OFF HER PUNK OUTFIT)

AJ isn't the first WWE Diva to don The Straight Edge Savior's look, however. During the Oct. 31, 2006 edition of ECW on SyFy, Kelly Kelly rocked the Halloween contest with her cutoff Punk T-shirt, taped-up wrists and assortment of lookalike tattoos. Kelly Kelly's outfit didn't notch her a victory in the contest, but it sure made Punk take notice of his admirer's fashionable effort.

So, members of the WWE Universe, which Diva looked better in Punk gear: AJ or Kelly Kelly? Cast your vote in this WWE.com poll and let us know what you think!

Intercontinental Champion Christian def. The Miz

Christian is on a serious roll since his return at WWE Over the Limit. The new Intercontinental Champion keeps racking up victories, his latest triumph coming against The Miz in impressive fashion. Cody Rhodes sat ringside to provide scathing commentary on the match, but left before he could watch Captain Charisma take to the air with an explosive frog splash for the win. (PHOTOS |VIDEO)

The Miz refused to leave the ring after the match and complained that he deserves a championship match and to be treated with more respect for his accomplishments. In an out-of-nowhere attack, Randy Orton slithered out to the ring and, without saying a single word to The Miz, sent him crashing to the mat with a big RKO.

Dolph Ziggler, watching on a backstage monitor with Vickie Guerrero, told his manager that he wants out of the tag team with Jack Swagger and desires to be more like Orton.

Apex Barbie 2nd year anniversary post

May 29,2012

This date means two things for me.

One,it is the celebration of the two-year anniversary of my blog dedicated to WWE's Randy Orton and Kelly Kelly. If you have read my first anniversary post, you know the reasons why I blog about them.

Two,it has been a year since one of my grandmothers from the paternal side passed away.It coincided with the first anniversary of this blog.

Having a blog must have its limitations. You should think before you post, because everyone can see what you post, unless you tweaked the privacy settings of your blog.

Anyway, over the course of the years I have been as a WWE fan,one of my friends informed me about an incident featuring the two.I thought they will have a segment together on either RAW or Smackdown, but she told me that they have a conflict. To make the story short,a "revelation" about Kelly's personal life on the radio lead to backlash.Of course,Randy apologized.

On a lighter note,Kelly has somewhat noticed the blog. She retweeted 3 tweets related to her photos from Maxim and the Price is Right. On a personal side,Randy once replied to me on Twitter from my main account.

I am thankful to the two of them because without them, this blog will not be here.

Cheers to the two years! :)

Eve made a Triple Threat World Title No. 1 Contender’s Match

WILKES-BARRE, PA – In a fast-paced Triple Threat main event, the resourceful Alberto Del Rio stole the right to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus at No Way Out. Meanwhile, Daniel Bryan delivered an earth-shattering onslaught to The Big Red Monster Kane.

(PHOTOS)
John Laurinaitis' Executive Administrator Eve opened SmackDown, reiterating the point that – after "cementing his physical superiority" by pinning John Cena at WWE Over the Limit – “Mr. Excitement” is still the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown. Revealing that an international WWE business trip would keep the Executive Vice President of Talent Relations from being on SmackDown, she reassured one and all that she had been left in charge of the action.

While informing the WWE Universe that “Big Johnny” would deal will Cena on Monday night’s Raw SuperShow, the Diva-in-charge announced that World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus would be giving a public apology later in the show for shoving his injured boss four days eariler.

However, before Eve could continue, Del Rio, Randy Orton and Kane all interrupted, each giving a very compelling argument as to why they should be the next Superstar to face The Great White for his illustrious championship gold. In response, the Executive Administrator announced a Triple Threat World Title main event between them to determine Sheamus' new No. 1 contender.

(WATCH | PHOTOS)
As Kane entered the ring to compete against Alberto Del Rio and Randy Orton in the Triple Threat World Title No.1 Contender’s Match, Daniel Bryan suddenly emerged from nowhere, unleashing an absolutely rabid assault on The Big Red Monster. After blasting him with a steel chair 26 times, WWE’s "Yes!" man left the monstrous target of his rage lying in the canvas in incredible pain.

In spite of the incredible onslaught he suffered just moments earlier, The Devil’s Favorite Demon would choose to still compete against two of Friday night’s best for the right to face World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus at No Way Out.

In the height of the action, Bryan returned with the steel chair. This would distract Kane long enough for Orton to regain the advantage and hit his masked opponent with the RKO. However, just when it looked like The Viper was going to grab the three-count, Del Rio took him out of the equation, stealing the huge win to become the new No. 1 contender for the World Heavyweight Title.

As the Mexican Superstar celebrated at the top of the ramp, Sheamus emerged, sending a clear message to his aristocratic new challenger that he can’t wait to kick his head off at the coming pay-per-view.

Maxim's 2012 Hot 100 in Under 100 seconds

Kelly Kelly ranks #38 in Maxim Hot 100 2012 list!

38. Kelly Kelly
In 2011 this squared-circle sweetheart returned to WWE Raw and graced the cover of Maxim's December issue. Our favorite fact about the darling Diva: Her real name, Barbie Blank, is even more badass than her nom de wrestling.

View the list here

Divas sizzle on Maxim’s Hot 100

Since gracing the cover of Maxim in December, the beautiful Kelly Kelly has been climbing the prestigious men’s magazine’s ranks, shooting up to No. 38 on Maxim’s Hot 100 of 2012! And this year, she’s joined by more familiar faces in the WWE Universe – Layla, Stacy Keibler and Maria Menounos.
“I am so excited," Kelly Kelly told WWE.com. "Honestly I had no idea. I thought maybe I’d end up in the 60s, or if I was lucky, in the 50s. But when I got 38, I thought this is the craziest thing!”
“I beat Kate Upton, who was on the cover of Sports Illustrated. I beat Adriana Lima, who’s in Victoria’s Secret – all of these big names. I couldn’t be happier!”
Last year, the former Divas Champion made the list at No. 82. But Kelly’s rise to the top is truly a testament to the power of the WWE Universe, as for the first time in Maxim history, the magazine’s readers weighed in on who should be on “the definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women.”
“I give all the credit to the WWE Universe," Kelly said. "They were sending me Tweets about voting, and I was constantly re-Tweeting them. I have more than 522,000 followers now and they were really on it. I give all the credit to them. I got this because of them. I can’t thank the WWE Universe enough for voting for me!” (FOLLOW @REALKELLYKELLY)
Divas Champion Layla also made Maxim’s Hot 100 for the first time, clocking in at No. 95.
“I’m in total shock," Layla said with a smile. "I’ve only been back about four weeks and I didn’t even know I was nominated. The WWE Universe voted me in!”
“I want to say thank you very much to everybody who voted me in. … I’ve never been in Maxim. So I feel very special. Thank you, guys. It’s awesome. It’s been a great 2012 so far. I couldn’t ask for anything more this year.”
Another notable name on the list is former WWE Diva Stacy Keibler at No. 51. It’s the bombshell’s seventh consecutive year being ranked by Maxim!
Also, Kelly Kelly’s WrestleMania XXVIII tag team partner Maria Menounos clocks in at No. 64. It’s the first time the "Extra" host and "Dancing with the Stars" alum earned the Maxim honor.
“I’m excited to be on the list with her,” Kelly Kelly said about Menounos. “I think we’re both hot girls and we competed at WrestleMania together, so it’s really cool to be on the Hot 100 with her.
“But I am glad I beat her,” Kelly laughed.
Kelly Kelly promised this isn’t the last time the WWE Universe will see her on Maxim’s Hot 100. She’s set a new goal for herself – to make the top 10!
“Hopefully I can get another cover out this year … and I’ll be in the top 10. That’s my dream!”

WWE Smackdown spoilers for May 25,2012

Four picks to be SmackDown's franchise player

Alex Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant, Peyton Manning and Alexander Ovechkin. Aside from being exceptional athletes and among the very best in their respective fields of battle, all four are true cornerstones: uber-talented stars that teams can build their entire franchises around. In the world of competitive play, they're known as "franchise players."

In professional sports, not every team has one of these extraordinary individuals. In fact, some don't even have one legitimately elite star. But in the squared circle, there's no shortage of in-ring warriors who could be considered standard-bearers for the Raw and SmackDown brands, and to a larger extent, WWE as a whole.

WWE.com takes an up-close look at Friday night's best, tackling the undeniably tough challenge of narrowing it down to four Superstars that stand as the face of SmackDown. These competitors are the linchpins of the notorious blue brand, persistently commanding the attention of the WWE Universe while crafting their own unique identity.

Click through to see our four picks, and then cast your vote in WWE.com's poll to decide who ultimately deserves to be called the franchise player for SmackDown.

Born and bred with WWE rushing through his veins, Randy Orton has walked with the best and learned from their incredible example. The third-generation warrior follows in the footsteps of his elite family, including his father, WWE Hall of Famer “Cowboy” Bob Orton. He then grew as a member of one of the top factions in WWE history – Evolution – standing in the mighty shadow of Triple H and WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. After a lifetime of surrounding himself with greatness, there is no one better on the SmackDown roster to represent the entire show.

Orton also deserves to be Friday night’s franchise player because he is one of the top titleholders of all active WWE Superstars. He is a nine-time World Champion – winning his first World Heavyweight Title at age 24 – as well as an Intercontinental Champion and the 2009 Royal Rumble winner.

Perhaps the most important reason that WWE’s Apex Predator is the face of SmackDown has to do with his ability to be an extremely adaptable entertainer. He is a formidable opponent to any type of foe: Superstar or Legend, large or small, man or monster. He can compete in any type of match or any part of the arena, whether it’s a technical encounter or an all-out brawl, from Hell in a Cell, to Falls Count Anywhere, to the Fatal 4-Way World Title Match at WWE Over the Limit on May 20. Overall, he is a Superstar that shows no fear and is able to rise above in any situation, striking out of nowhere to emerge victorious.

In short, Randy Orton is SmackDown's clear franchise player.

Randy Orton def. Alberto Del Rio by Disqualification

In a bit of high comedy, Santino Marella made fun of Ricardo Rodriguez's eyebrows, saying they looked like "caterpillars," and the two proceeded to get into a duel over who can roll their "R"s better. After the verbal spat, Santino struck Ricardo with The Cobra and did his best impersonation of Ricardo by introducing Alberto Del Rio for his match against Randy Orton. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)
Del Rio repeatedly targeted Orton's shoulder throughout the contest, trying to soften him up for the Cross Armbreaker. Although clearly ailing, The Viper found his second wind and planted The Mexican Aristocrat with a vicious DDT off the second rope. Before he could finish Del Rio off with an RKO, however, Chris Jericho came out of nowhere and planted his knees into Orton's face with a Codebreaker. Not satisfied there, Jericho delivered two more Codebreakers on Orton, sandwiched between relentless taunts of "I am the best in the world at everything I do!" The Mental Mastermind definitely made a powerful statement coming off his loss in the Fatal 4-Way Match at WWE Over the Limit (a clash that also included Orton and Del Rio).

Beth Phoenix def. Kelly Kelly

Fresh off her selection to Maxim's new Hot 100 list, Kelly Kelly laid into Beth Phoenix with a series of kicks, showing off some early aggression while matched up against her longtime Diva rival. But right as Kelly Kelly tried to execute a handspring elbow in the corner, Phoenix responded with a crushing double axe handle to the back of Kelly Kelly's head. From there, it was just a matter of "Glam Slam. Ding," as The Glamazon likes to say on Twitter. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)
One can imagine what was going through the mind of Divas Champion Layla as she watched Beth's win closely on a backstage monitor.

WWE Over the Limit 2012 - May 20,2012

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus won the Fatal 4-Way Match

RALEIGH, N.C. – In what was his greatest challenge as champion to date, Sheamus stood up to seemingly insurmountable odds in a brutal Fatal 4-Way Match on his way to retaining the World Heavyweight Title. It was certainly no easy feat, squaring off with three former multi-time World Champions – Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton – but The Celtic Warrior’s triumph cements his rightful place as one of WWE’s most dominant Superstars. (PHOTOS)

The way in which The Great White picked up the victory was undoubtedly impressive – after all, he only had a one in four chance of leaving Raleigh, N.C., victorious. Fatal 4-Way Matches are especially treacherous for the defending champion as they can lose the title even if they don’t submit or succumb to pinfall. With that in mind, The Celtic Warrior’s victory leaves the WWE Universe wondering who could possibly dethrone the World Heavyweight Champion, and what the future holds for his challengers at WWE Over the Limit.

After ring announcer Lilian Garcia made each Superstar’s introduction, the opening bell sounded and each of the four gladiators immediately sized each other up. Clearly, there was a sense of trepidation among them over who to strike first. The free-for-all nature of the Fatal 4-Way leaves each competitor desperate to maintain momentum from the very beginning.

An all-out brawl erupted and Sheamus and Orton focused their attacks on Del Rio and Jericho, quickly removing them from the squared circle. The WWE Universe inside the PNC Arena rose to their feet at The Viper and The Great White sized each other up, ready to strike. The crowd waited with baited breath as the two Superstars taunted each other, only to be stopped by a returning Jericho and Del Rio.

Taking the battle to the outside of the ring, WWE’s Apex Predator and the World Heavyweight Champion once again left their opponents reeling and immediately returned to the ring to face off with one another. The WWE Universe watched anxiously as both Superstars challenged each other and finally went on the offensive.

Returning to the ring, Del Rio and Jericho formed an alliance to attack the venomous Viper and the World Champion. But as Fatal 4-Way Matches typically go, the cohesion between The Mexican Aristocrat and WWE’s first-ever Undisputed Champion was short-lived. As Del Rio and Jericho erupted, the true nature of the Fatal 4-Way was exposed, it was now every Superstar for himself.

When the dust settled, Jerry Lawler summed up the mHowever, to Jericho’s disadvantage, there were too many variables in the ring, including the most explosive, WWE’s Apex Predator. An impressive double DDT delivered to Del Rio and Ricardo Rodriguez delighted the WWE Universe in Raleigh, but not nearly as much as the flurry of high-impact RKOs that temporarily shifted momentum into The Viper’s corner.

As chaos erupted inside the squared circle, it would be a final opportunity seized by Sheamus that led to victory. With Del Rio reeling on the outside of the ring, The Celtic Warrior took out Orton with a Brogue Kick before delivering a crushing White Noise to Jericho to retain the World Title.

Since winning the 2012 Royal Rumble Match and defeating Daniel Bryan in a history-making 18 seconds for the World Heavyweight Championship, Sheamus’ momentum has made him nearly unstoppable. The Great White continued to build on his legacy after overcoming the odds inside Raleigh’s PNC Arena. Will Del Rio, Orton or Jericho continue to claim their place as No. 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Champion, or will a new challenger prove bold enough to challenge The Celtic Warrior? Stay tuned to WWE Raw SuperShow on USA and Friday Night SmackDown on Syfy to find out!atch perfectly by saying, “There was never a time that anyone had a clear advantage.” Momentum is key inside the squared circle, but it was never clearly in anyone’s grasp. The elite Superstars vying for the World Title knew that the only way to come out on top was to seize moments and opportunities. Jericho, fueled by his anger toward an article on WWE.com questioning whether he should have returned (FULL STORY), was the clear victor in terms of timing moments to take out his opponents with a Code Breaker or locking them in the devastating Walls of Jericho. There were many times when Jericho was half a count away from claiming the World Title.

Chris Jericho defeated Randy Orton by Disqualification

As Chris Jericho and Randy Orton fought tooth-and-nail, the action spilled outside the ring, where World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus was seated at the announce table. During the fray, Jericho threw Orton into the champion, sending him crashing to the arena floor. When the fight resumed in the ring and Orton blasted Jericho with a DDT, he was poised for a final blow with an RKO. But before The Viper could strike, The Celtic Warrior pulled Jericho form the ring, ending the bout in a disqualification. Furious with the outcome, Orton lured Sheamus in the ring, where the two were ready to mix it up before having to be separated by WWE officials. World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus def. Randy Orton

(WATCH | PHOTOS)
A tweet by John Laurinaitis’ Executive Administrator Eve on Monday called for a SmackDown showdown between World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Randy Orton – just two days before The Great White and The Viper will face Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio in a Fatal 4-Way World Title Match. (MATCH PREVIEW)

In the fierce contest that followed, The Viper punished The Great White’s already injured shoulder, mounting a strategy that mirrored Alberto Del Rio’s plan of action during his match against Orton last week on SmackDown. Sheamus fought his way through the pain, as both intense grapplers kicked out of several pin attempts – leaving the WWE Universe to wonder just what it would take for either competitor to achieve victory, both in Friday’s main event and this Sunday.

In the end, when WWE’s Apex Predator attempted the RKO, The Celtic Warrior countered, wrapping up Orton for the quick win.

Then, displaying a "you got me" attitude after the bell and shaking his opponent’s hand, the cunning Viper struck without warning, hitting a post-match RKO on the World Heavyweight Champion. With his eyes — and his hands — on Sheamus’ title, Orton sent a strong signal that the WWE Over the Limit World Title Match may indeed prove to be a different story.

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus & Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio ended in a No Contest

ROANOKE, Va. – Nine days before WWE Over the Limit, a Raw SuperShow tag team rematch pitting World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus & Randy Orton against Chris Jericho & Alberto Del Rio again descended into anarchy. Although this paved the way for two explosive singles contests between the fierce foursome, when SmackDown came to a close, tensions had gone from explosive to absolutely nuclear.

(WATCH | PHOTOS)
On the May 7 edition of Raw SuperShow, Sheamus & Orton's tag team match against Jericho & Del Rio diverged down the road to incredible bedlam in John Laurinaitis’ office. (FULL RAW RESULTS) As a result, the General Manager of Raw and SmackDown changed the World Heavyweight Title Match at WWE Over the Limit into a Fatal 4-Way showdown. (MATCH PREVIEW)

Four days after that decision, SmackDown began with a grueling tag team rematch between the four fiery competitors, until an all-out brawl forced the referee to call for the bell and throw the contest out completely. That didn’t stop the action, however, as all four grapplers continued to fight, both inside and outside the ring, utilizing a street fight mentality that stood as a fitting appetizer to the uncontrollable free-for-all that will take place in the Fatal 4-Way Match in nine days.

In a tweet issued soon after, John Laurinaitis’ Executive Administrator Eve announced, on behalf of the EVP, that – because the match's outcome was "unacceptable" – the four Superstars would each face one of their pay-per-view opponent in singes competition later on the show: The Viper would take on The Mexican Aristocrat while The Great White would battle the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion.

Randy Orton def. Alberto Del Rio by Disqualification

(WATCH | PHOTOS)
For the second time of the night, Randy Orton stepped into the ring to face Alberto Del Rio, just nine days before they will battle as part of the Fatal 4-Way World Heavyweight Championship Match at WWE Over the Limit. (MATCH PREVIEW)

Despite constant attacks on The Viper’s shoulder throughout the match, the resilient nine-time World Champion rebounded and prepared to put his crafty foe down for the three-count.

But, before Orton could attempt to close the deal, Ricardo Rodriguez leaped at him from the top rope, only to receive an RKO in mid-air for his trouble. Though this interference gave the serpentine Superstar a victory by disqualification, the opportunistic Del Rio quickly hurled his adversary into the steel ring post before applying the cross armbreaker. Although the fact that The Mexican Aristocrat wasn't able to fully lock in his signature maneuver ultimately saved WWE’s Apex Predator, the damage on Orton’s arm was evident.

10 instances of Superstars going Over the Limit

The Viper kisses Stephanie

In March 2009, Randy Orton was ringleader of the brazen Legacy stable – an irreverent three-Superstar group that included second- and third-generation competitors Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase, respectively. Rhodes and DiBiase faithfully followed the orders of Orton, so it came as little surprise when Rhodes interfered when Orton & DiBiase took on then-WWE Champion (and heated Orton rival) Triple H.
Rhodes’ interference caused the match to be tossed out in barely a minute’s time. However, what unfolded from there most definitely went over the limit of decency.
The Legacy handcuffed Triple H to the ropes and then intimated that they would attack him with his own weapon of choice, a sledgehammer. With her husband in very real danger, Stephanie McMahon raced to the ring and tried to convince Orton not to go after The Game. Instead of hearing her out, though, Orton fell McMahon with a draping DDT and then, in a diabolical maneuver, kissed her in full view of Triple H.

WWE goes slap happy

Video

Randy Orton gives his thoughts on Brock Lesnar

During an interview with The Fight Club Chicago in November, Randy Orton was asked about Brock Lesnar being showcased in THQ’s WWE ’12 video game.
“I think its great. I’m a big Lesnar fan and I’ve always been. We came up together about 10 years ago now. Me and him were buds. We’ve lost touch over the years as you usually do with guys like that, but I wish him the best,” the SmackDown Superstar said.
“I know he’s had a few health issues as of late. But, hell conquer those just like he’s conquered every other obstacle that has come his way. I true l feel he’s one of the few human beings I’ve ever met that have been able too accomplish as much as he’s accomplished. He puts his mind, body and soul into it and he’s gunna get it done.”
The full interview is available at www.sportstownchicago.com/fightclub. Orton also gave his thoughts on The Rock.

The following is being advertised for next week’s RAW Supershow from Pittsburgh, PA:
* Triple H’s response to Brock Lesnar quitting WWE
* WWE Champion CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho (Anything Goes Match)
* John Cena & Randy Orton & Sheamus vs. Kane & Daniel Bryan & Lord Tensai.

10 explosive instances when Superstars snapped

No. 1: The Game makes a house call on The Viper

(WATCH | HOT HEAD PHOTOS)
Superstars harming one another inside the squared circle is an inescapable part of competition in WWE. Sometimes battles spill over into ringside and even to the back. However, taking the fight directly to a Superstar’s house is the act of a truly infuriated Superstar.
When Randy Orton went after Triple H’s wife Stephanie McMahon, he drew the uncontrollable rage of The Game. But, he could not have known just how ferocious the retribution would prove to be.
On the March 9, 2009 episode of Raw SuperShow, WWE Champion Triple H did not come to the ring for his Handicap Match against Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase, giving the then-Legacy teammates the victory by forfeit. Appearing live via satellite from his residence in St. Louis, Mo., Randy Orton angrily addressed the absent King of Kings, calling the champion’s actions “cowardly.”
As WWE’s Apex Predator warned from his home that he might skip his upcoming WrestleMania title match against Triple H, the doorbell rang. But before Orton’s wife could answer it, The Game ferociously battered down the front door with a sledgehammer. Seeing the menacing fury in the face of his unwelcome visitor, Orton made a break for it and Triple H began to stalk The Viper throughout his own house.
Hunting from room to room, the irate King of Kings stopped at nothing to find his prey in a nerve-racking contest of hide and seek. The WWE Universe watched with bated breath as the enraged title holder crept throughout Orton’s domicile.
In an attempt to thwart his pursuer’s aggression, The Viper sprung out of nowhere and tackled him. His plan backfired, however, as his infuriated attacker turned the tables. The Game savagely attacked his prey. Then – in a moment of pure fury – he hurled him through a glass window onto the front lawn.
Not only had the glass been shattered, but also WWE fans’ expectations about just how far Superstars would go for vengeance. Outside, Triple H continued the assault, raining down on Orton with wild punches and kicks, before the police arrived and detained The Cerebral Assassin.
The term “breaking and entering” has rarely been so apropos. Randy Orton’s home and body were damaged by the unrelenting and frightening attack of The King of Kings, leaving no doubt that this colossal outburst stands as the most astonishing “Hot Head Moment in WWE History” of all.

12 arm injuries that impacted the WWE

Injury No. 12: Orton shoulders steals the headlines

Within weeks of being drafted from SmackDown to Raw in Sept. 2002, Randy Orton suffered a separated shoulder that put the rookie Superstar out of action for months. Though such an injury would entice most competitors to step out of the spotlight and focus on rehabilitation, Orton chose to keep the WWE Universe apprised of his every move.
Orton interrupted the regularly scheduled programming on Raw in the weeks that followed with periodic updates of his status on a segment known as the “Randy News Network,” or RNN for short. RNN allowed Orton to speak freely and directly to the WWE Universe about his current status, but often used the occasion to inform everyone about of the minutiae of his life while openly soliciting for get-well wishes from the WWE Universe.

WWE Over the Limit 2012 preview

World Heavyweight Championship Fatal 4-Way Match

World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus has said time and time again that he loves to fight. Well, at WWE Over the Limit, The Great White will get that opportunity – times three – when he battles challengers Alberto Del Rio, Chris Jericho and Randy Orton in a Fatal 4-Way Match for the World Title.
Originally slated as a one-on-one title encounter against Del Rio, the pay-per-view showdown picked up two contenders on the May 7 edition of Raw SuperShow. This happened when John Laurinaitis, the General Manager of both Raw and SmackDown, announced that it would be a Fatal 4-Way Match aftter the competitors erupted in a brawl after an intense tag team battle on Raw.
Sheamus has been on an absolute tear since capturing the World Heavyweight Title from Daniel Bryan in a history-making 18 seconds at WrestleMania (PHOTOS), including hard-fought victories over the former champion in a 2-out-of-3 Falls rematch at Extreme Rules (PHOTOS) and a tremendous win over The World’s Strongest Man Mark Henry on SmackDown. (WATCH | PHOTOS) More than ever before, the Irish Superstar has been running on all cylinders, demonstrating the heart of a true World Champion. (MORE ON SHEAMUS)
Despite his recent success, however, the odds of The Great White walking out of Over the Limit with the coveted title around his waist are strongly against him. In a Fatal 4-Way Match, any of the four competitors can win the title by scoring a pinfall or submission on any of the other three. In short, Sheamus doesn’t technically have to be beaten to lose his championship.
In addition to the numbers game, the elite Superstars that The Great White will face are both successful and dangerous even on their worst days – with talents particularly well-suited to this type of match.
Chris Jericho is a four-time World Champion and one of the most highly decorated Superstars in the history of WWE. Translation: the first-ever Undisputed WWE Champion has always, and will always, know how to win. He’s skilled, adaptable and completely merciless in any and all conditions. Therefore, his fourth World Title could be but a Codebreaker away. (MORE ON JERICHO)
Randy Orton is a nine-time World Champion, capable of waging war on any battlefield. Besides being an unpredictable and cunning grappler, The Viper’s ability to strike quickly in a number of ways gives him a decisive advantage in this type of contest. The crown jewel of his arsenal in particular – the RKO – is the perfect device to emerge triumphant in the fast-paced chaos of a Fatal 4-Way. (MORE ON ORTON)
Del Rio is a two-time World Champion, who’s as confident as he is ruthless. Rising out of the luchador tradition of Mexico, the aristocrat Superstar is no stranger to the tornado-like atmosphere he will encounter at Over the Limit. In fact, he’s already reached the pinnacle of squared circle greatness in a similar environment, having won his second title in a Triple Threat Hell in a Cell WWE Championship Match in 2011.  (MORE ON DEL RIO)
At WWE Over the Limit, find out who will emerge from the mayhem of the Fatal 4-Way with the World Heavyweight Championship in his grasp, Sunday May 20 at 8 / 5 PT, only on pay-per-view.

Divas Champion Layla and Kelly Kelly def. Natalya and Maxine

Beth Phoenix appeared at ringside to provide scathing commentary while her opponent at Over the Limit, Divas Champion Layla, dished out a heaping of hurt on Maxine in the ring. With The Glamazon looking on, Layla executed a vicious neckbreaker as she cruised to an easy victory alongside tag team partner Kelly Kelly. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)

Chris Jericho and Alberto Del Rio def. World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus and Randy Orton
Sheamus didn't let a shoulder injury inflicted by Daniel Bryan hold him back in this fiery tag team clash. After Randy Orton went to work on Chris Jericho, The Great White followed with some painful shots of his own as pounded his fist into Jericho's chest. Jericho and Alberto Del Rio soon found a way to exploit Sheamus' injury, however, when The Celtic Warrior missed the mark with a running shoulder block into the steel ring post. Finding a second wind, Sheamus scrambled to the corner and tagged back in The Viper, who tried his hardest to fight off persistent double-team efforts from Del Rio and Jericho. (PHOTOS | VIDEO)
In a stunning exchange, Sheamus hit Jericho with the Irish Curse backbreaker after he was tagged back into the match, and Orton promptly knocked Del Rio out of the contest with a thunderous RKO. But perhaps feeling the effects of his shoulder injury, Sheamus then inadvertently crushed Orton with a Brogue Kick, and Jericho quickly landed a Codebreaker on The Great White to pull off the victory. After the crazy finish, Sheamus tried to lift his tag team partner back to his feet, but The Viper responded by drilling Sheamus with an RKO.
Their adrenaline still running high, all four Superstars in the tag team contest vented in Laurinaitis' office before engaging in a wild brawl. The Raw and SmackDown GM announced Sheamus will defend his World Heavyweight Title in a Fatal 4-Way Match against Del Rio, Jericho and Orton at WWE Over the Limit. (MATCH PREVIEW)

7 Must Watch Beat The Clock Challenge times

December 6, 2011: Randy Orton def. Dolph Ziggler in 7:51

In one of the more thrilling Beat the Clock Challenges, Randy Orton and Wade Barrett each competed for the opportunity to choose the stipulation for their match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs. Barrett set the time at 7:53 with a win over Ezekiel Jackson and did everything in his power to ensure Orton would not match the mark against Dolph Ziggler. Despite Barrett’s interference, The Viper pulled off a last-second win to beat Barrett’s time by 2 seconds, giving him the chance to pick the stipulation. (PHOTOS) Barrett burst forth with a sneak attack, but Orton fended off the assault and ultimately selected a Tables Match – making an example out of Ziggler in the process.

Randy Orton & Big Show def. Kane & Intercontinental Champion Cody Rhodes

(WATCH | PHOTOS)
“Extreme” fallout hit SmackDown in a big way, as the competitors of two of last Sunday’s explosive showdowns joined forces.

Just when Big Show looked poised to hit the chokeslam on Cody Rhodes, Kane knocked him off his game with a fierce attack off the top rope. Moments later, The Big Red Monster was taken out by Randy Orton’s RKO. Rhodes recovered, though, hurling The Viper into the steel ring post. But, when he attempted the Disaster Kick on Show, the recovered giant stopped him with a powerful hit to the chest – setting up the WMD on the Intercontinental Champion for the victory.

On the heels of triumph, The World’s Largest Athlete looked fully prepared for his Intercontinental Title rematch, which the SmackDown announce team declared would take place during a WWE Live Event this weekend.
